From Mouse Models and Mechanisms to Therapeutic Targets for Delirium
This symposium presents new advances in clinically-relevant mouse models for delirium and the intersecting mechanisms of aging, metabolism, and neuroinflammation that help shed light on biological mechanisms of delirium. This preclinical science symposium moderated by Dr. Newman will present new advances in clinically-relevant preclinical models for delirum, mechanisms of metabolism and neurovascular function in neurodegeneration relevant to delirium, and peri-surgical neuroinflammatory mechanisms relevant to delirium.
Dr. Lahiri will describe insights into the specific inflammatory mediators of delirum-like phenotypes from novel, clinically-relevant mouse models of ventilator-associated lung injury and urinary tract infection.
Dr. Lin will present her recent work using basic and translational science approaches to study of aging-related metabolic mechanisms, including TOR inhibition and nutritional interventions, affect delirium-relevant neurovascular and neurometabolic function in mouse models of aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Yang will present new data from mouse model of post-operative cognitive impairment of the mechanisms of neuroinflammation and mediators of inflammatory resolution that will inform new therapeutic targets for delirium.
Objectives of this symposium are to advance the audience’s undertsanding of
1) clinically-relevant preclinical models for delirum
2) mechanisms of metabolism and neurovascular function in neurodegeneration relevant to delirium
3) peri-surgical neuroinflammatory mechanisms relevant to delirium
