Leslie Dervan

Leslie A. Dervan, MD MS is an attending physician in the Seattle Children’s Hospital PICU and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. She completed pediatric residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program at Children’s Hospital Boston in 2011, followed by pediatric critical care fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital and a master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of Washington in 2014. Her research examines the effects of neurologic illness, injury, and disability, including sleep disruption and ICU delirium, on intermediate and long-term outcomes for critically ill children. Recent work includes investigating the association between ICU delirium and post-discharge decline in health-related quality of life, evaluating risk factors and hospital outcomes for children with ICU delirium, and measuring sleep disruption and sleep quality in mechanically ventilated children sedated with dexmedetomidine. Clinically, she is the PICU co-director of the Neurocritical Care program, and serves on the SCH PICU Sedation Committee and the PICU Liberation QI initiative to help bring best practices in reducing delirium to the bedside.
