Federico Carini

MD

My name is Federico Carini, I am currently a clinical and research fellow in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto.
I attended medical school at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), and I completed critical care residency at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (HIBA) in 2013. In 2018 I completed a 3-year specialization program in medical education from the University of HIBA, followed by a Masters in Clinical Effectiveness at the University of Buenos Aires (thesis pending). My primary focus surrounded quality improvement and implementation in critical care medicine.
My current research initiatives cover two specific areas: 1) optimizing analgesia, delirium, and sedation practices in the ICU; and 2) improving the care of patients with HM who become critically ill. Regarding the first one, I am the Director of the Analgesia, Sedation and Delirium committee for the Pan-American and Iberian Society of Critical Care (FEPIMCTI) and former Director of a similar committee for the Argentine Society of Critical Care (SATI).
