Andzelika Dechnik

MD

Andzelika Dechnik is a junior resident at the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. While she was a medical student at Weill Cornell Medical College, her research was focused in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, specifically evaluating delirium in critically ill children. While working alongside her mentor Dr. Chani Traube, she designed a retrospective cohort study to explore whether there is a relationship between inflammatory markers and delirium. In another prospective observational cohort study, she implemented delirium screening in the post anesthesia care unit using the Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium (CAPD) to better understand the frequency, subtypes, and risk factors for pediatric delirium after general anesthesia. Andzelika hopes to use the skills and knowledge she has gained through her research work to continue exploring delirium in children in various clinical settings. After residency, Andzelika will pursue a career in pediatric emergency medicine.
